Kansas City, MO (July 7, 2026) – A driver is in critical condition after being pinned between two vehicles on westbound Interstate 70 at Prospect Avenue early on Sunday morning, July 5. The crash happened just before 4 a.m. and closed the highway for several hours.
A white Infiniti had stopped on the shoulder with hazard lights activated. The Infiniti’s driver was standing near the back of the vehicle when a Ford sedan veered into the shoulder and struck the Infiniti, pinning the driver between the two cars.
The Infiniti driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition with traumatic injuries. The Ford driver was also taken to a hospital for evaluation. Initial reports indicate impairment was a contributing factor in the wreck.
The accident remains under active investigation. We hope the critically injured driver makes a full recovery.
