Los Angeles, CA (July 16, 2026) – One person lost their life in a multi-vehicle wreck on Tuesday morning on the northbound I-5 transition road near 7th Street in the Boyle Heights neighborhood. The collision was reported shortly after 8 a.m.
Investigators said as many as six vehicles were involved. Preliminary information indicates the driver who died experienced a medical emergency before the collision and may have caused the chain-reaction crash.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone else was hurt. The identity of the deceased driver had not been released, and the transition road remained closed while crews worked at the site.
