Lincoln County, SD (July 23, 2026) – One person was hurt on Tuesday morning, July 21, after a three-vehicle collision along 271st St near 473rd Ave (Western Ave) in Lincoln County.
The chain-reaction crash happened at about 8:00 a.m. when a westbound white Chevy Traverse struck the rear of a white Jeep Renegade after its driver became distracted. The force pushed the Jeep into the back of a red Ford Escape.
The driver of the Chevy was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The Jeep driver received care at the roadside but was not taken to a hospital. The Ford driver was not hurt.
All three vehicles were removed from the roadway by tow trucks due to damage. The driver of the Chevy was later cited for careless driving and for failing to provide proof of insurance. Emergency units assisted those involved and helped clear the roadway. The cause of the collision remains under review as investigators continue gathering information.
