Las Vegas, NV (May 25, 2026) – A deadly two-vehicle wreck took place early Sunday, May 24, near the intersection of East Washington Avenue and North Bruce Street in Las Vegas.
Police said a 1993 Nissan truck was heading west on Washington Avenue around 5:36 a.m. The driver entered the intersection on a yellow light and began turning left onto Bruce Street. At the same time, a 2015 Ford Mustang traveled east at a high speed and entered the crossing as the traffic signal turned red.
The Mustang struck the passenger side of the Nissan, pushing both vehicles westbound and ejecting the Nissan driver. Emergency units performed life-saving efforts, but the man died at the scene. The woman driving the Ford and a passenger in that car were both taken to UMC Trauma Center with severe harm.
Investigators said the Ford driver showed signs of impairment and was later arrested on DUI and reckless driving charges. No names were released following the accident. Detectives are still working to determine all factors tied to the crash. We extend heartfelt condolences to the family and friends mourning this loss.
How Speed and Impairment Can Affect Serious Traffic Accidents
Speeding and impaired driving can greatly reduce a driver’s ability to react to changing traffic signals or turning vehicles. Alcohol and drugs may slow judgment, weaken coordination, and make it harder to notice hazards on busy roads. Higher speeds also increase stopping distance and can lead to stronger force during vehicle contact.
After a serious roadway accident, investigators often review traffic light timing, vehicle positions, and witness statements. Road markings, debris patterns, and security camera footage may also help explain what happened. Medical findings and vehicle damage are sometimes used to show how severe the harm was for the people involved. These details can provide a clearer picture of the moments leading up to a fatal traffic crash.
