Miramar, FL (September 5, 2026) – A man was fatally struck by a vehicle on Thursday evening, September 3, while changing a tire on Interstate 75 in Miramar, according to official information.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75, just north of Miramar Parkway. The man was outside his vehicle on the right shoulder when another vehicle struck him. A second vehicle then crashed into the stopped car. A 2-year-old child was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash but was not seriously injured.

The child was later placed in the care of their mother. The name of the man who died has not been released. Several lanes were closed following the crash, causing major delays during the evening commute.

Our sympathy goes out to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

Florida’s Move Over Law and Highway Safety

Florida’s Move Over Law requires drivers to give extra space to vehicles stopped on the side of the road. When possible, drivers should move into another lane away from the stopped vehicle.

If changing lanes is not possible, drivers should slow down to a safe speed while passing the stopped vehicle. The law is designed to provide a safer space for people outside their vehicles on busy roadways.

Drivers should remain alert when approaching stopped vehicles, emergency responders, roadside workers, and disabled cars. Giving these vehicles additional room can reduce the risk of a secondary crash.
