North Brunswick, NJ (September 4, 2026) – Two people were reportedly injured on Wednesday morning, September 2, after a driver attempting to get away from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents crashed into another vehicle in North Brunswick.
The crash happened on Route 130 after federal agents had initially stopped the driver. Police said the driver then sped through a red light and struck another vehicle. ICE agents later arrested the driver following a foot chase. A witness recorded video showing people who appeared to be ICE agents at the crash scene.
Sources said the vehicle that was struck was carrying the wife of East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen. Cohen declined to comment, saying only that he was tending to his wife. Both occupants of the second vehicle were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The vehicle suffered heavy damage to its front end.
We wish those injured a smooth and complete recovery.
What to Know About Crashes at Red Lights
Running a red light can create a serious risk because vehicles entering an intersection may not have time to react to cross traffic. Drivers should obey traffic signals and remain alert when approaching intersections.
A crash involving multiple vehicles can also lead to additional impacts as stopped or moving vehicles are caught in the collision. Maintaining a safe speed and leaving enough space to react can help reduce the risk of a secondary crash.
Drivers involved in a crash should remain at the scene when it is safe to do so and follow directions from emergency personnel. Anyone injured should receive medical attention as soon as possible.
