Why Vehicle Extrications Are Sometimes Necessary After Crashes?
Following a collision, vehicle damage can trap occupants inside due to crushed doors, structural deformation, or compromised vehicle components. In these situations, firefighters and rescue personnel use specialized stabilization and extrication techniques to safely access and remove individuals while minimizing the risk of further injury.
Emergency responders evaluate factors such as vehicle position, occupant condition, and structural damage before determining the safest method of removal. Door removals are among the most common extrication procedures and can help provide rapid access to patients when conventional exits are blocked.
Investigations into injury crashes typically include an examination of vehicle damage, roadway conditions, witness statements, and other evidence to determine how the collision occurred.
