Colorado Springs, CO (July 7, 2026) – Four people were injured, including two drivers who suffered serious injuries, in a suspected DUI crash early on Sunday morning in Colorado Springs.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers responded at approximately 12:25 a.m. on July 5 to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Airport Road and South Academy Boulevard.
Investigators determined that a Subaru Outback traveling north on Marjorie Lee Way was attempting to turn left onto westbound Airport Road when it was struck by a Volkswagen Jetta that allegedly ran a red light.
Emergency responders found injured occupants inside both vehicles. All four people involved were transported to area hospitals. The police said both drivers sustained serious injuries but are expected to survive.
Authorities also reported that two passengers riding in the Volkswagen fled the scene following the crash but were later located at a nearby business. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives said the crash is being investigated as involving a suspected impaired driver, although no arrests had been announced as of Sunday.
