Fremont, CA (June 29, 2026) – An electric bicycle rider died following a collision with a passenger vehicle on Saturday, June 27, near the Interstate 880 northbound on-ramp at Auto Mall Parkway and Grimmer Boulevard in Fremont.
According to the Fremont Police Department, officers were dispatched to the roadway at approximately 4:34 p.m. The preliminary investigation determined that a passenger vehicle was traveling westbound on Auto Mall Parkway in the designated right-turn lane for the northbound I-880 on-ramp. At the same time, the bicyclist was travelling eastbound in the westbound bicycle lane at the on-ramp entrance, where the two collided.
The rider, an adult man, sustained head trauma and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. His identity has not been released pending confirmation by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office and notification of his family. The driver, an adult woman, was uninjured and remained at the scene, cooperating with investigators.
Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision. This marked Fremont’s sixth fatal traffic collision of 2026.
