El Paso, TX (January 9, 2026) – A pedestrian was hospitalized following a collision involving an unmarked El Paso County Sheriff’s Office vehicle in far East El Paso. The incident occurred at the intersection of Montana Ave and Rich Beem Blvd just before 6:00 p.m.
According to officials, the unmarked sheriff’s unit had been traveling northbound on Rich Beem Blvd before making a turn onto westbound Montana Ave. During the turn, a pedestrian entered the crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle. Authorities noted that the pedestrian was in the crosswalk but reportedly disregarded a traffic control signal at the time of the collision.
Bystanders at the scene stepped in to assist the injured pedestrian before emergency medical personnel arrived. Paramedics then provided treatment and transported the individual to a nearby hospital for further care. The nature and severity of the pedestrian’s injuries have not yet been publicly disclosed.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the incident remains under active investigation.
