Escambia County, FL (March 8, 2026) – A motorcyclist from Baldwin County lost his life following a collision with a pickup truck on Saturday evening in Escambia County, according to authorities.
Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. along State Road 97.
Investigators reported that a motorcycle operated by a 54-year-old man from Stapleton, Alabama, was traveling north on the highway. At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 63-year-old man from Milton, Florida, was heading south along the same roadway.
According to authorities, the motorcycle entered the southbound lane, where the front portions of both vehicles collided. Following the impact, both the motorcycle and the pickup truck traveled off the roadway and onto the shoulder.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the motorcyclist dead. Officials have not yet released his identity pending notification of family members. The pickup truck’s occupants were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The crash temporarily closed both directions of State Road 97 while emergency crews worked at the scene, but now the roadway has reopened.
