Escondido, CA (May 7, 2026) – A major injury crash involving two SUVs was reported on Wednesday evening on Deer Springs Rd in Escondido.
Emergency units responded to the 900 block of Deer Springs Rd around 6:58 p.m. following reports of a collision involving a white SUV and a gray Tesla SUV. Officials said the Tesla remained in the eastbound lanes after the impact, while other involved vehicles were moved to the right shoulder.
Authorities later upgraded the incident from an unknown-injury crash to a major injury collision. The number of people injured and the extent of those injuries have not been released.
Tow crews were called to assist with vehicle removal as responders worked at the scene. Traffic in the area was affected during the emergency response and cleanup efforts.
The police continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
