Macville Twp., MN (June 11, 2026) – One person was injured Wednesday evening, June 10, after two vehicles collided at Highway 169 and 610th Street in Macville Township.
The accident happened around 6:18 p.m. The report said a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling south on Highway 169.
A 1997 Dodge Ram was traveling east on 610th Street before the vehicles made contact. The Chevrolet’s airbag deployed after the crash.
The Dodge driver was identified as 78-year-old David Martin Redman of Palisade. He was brought to Grand Itasca in Grand Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Chevrolet driver, identified as 37-year-old Nicholas Peter Filipiak of Hudson, Wisconsin, was not injured. Five passengers in the Chevrolet, including three children, were also listed as unhurt.
The roadway was dry at the time of the wreck, and alcohol was not suspected for either driver. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review as more details are confirmed. We hope Redman continues to recover.
Highway Intersections Create Risks During Evening Travel
Evening crashes at highway crossings can involve vehicles approaching from different roads with different speeds. A driver on a smaller road may be entering or crossing a highway while another vehicle continues along the main route.
When families or several passengers are involved, early reports may focus on confirming who was hurt and who was not. Seat belt use, airbag deployment, and vehicle placement may also help explain how much force was involved.
Rural highway intersections may have limited lighting, fewer traffic controls, or long sight lines that still require careful judgment. Reports may later review travel direction, road surface, visibility, and where the vehicles came to rest. These details help explain how the crash happened and why one person needed hospital care.
