Hockley Co., TX (July 3, 2026) – Two people died, and one person was seriously injured, on Thursday evening, July 2, after a crash at a rural intersection in Hockley County.
The crash happened around 6:12 p.m. at the intersection of FM 1585 and FM 168. The Texas Department of Public Safety said the collision involved two pickups, one of which was towing a trailer.
According to DPS, the pickup towing the trailer pulled out in front of the other pickup. The second pickup then struck the trailer and rolled over.
The driver of the second pickup, 44-year-old Felicia Flores, and a 14-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the site. A second passenger, 22-year-old Aliyanna Luna, was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.
The other driver was not hurt. Whitharral ISD said Flores and the teenage passenger were part of its school community. The Hockley County crash remains under investigation as officials work to confirm the full sequence.
