Fairfield, IA (January 26, 2026) – A tragic two-vehicle accident outside Fairfield on Saturday night claimed the life of an 18-year-old woman and left two others injured, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash occurred around 10:00 p.m. when Emmelia Miller, 18, of Fairfield, was traveling north on Hemlock Avenue. Authorities say she lost control of her vehicle due to hazardous weather conditions. Her vehicle was then side-struck by a 2025 Dodge truck.
Miller was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Emergency crews from the area worked swiftly to assist the other individuals involved.
A 24-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. A 25-year-old man was also injured, though he did not require hospitalization.
The Iowa State Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
