Wood County, OH (July 4, 2026) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal afternoon crash that claimed the life of a Toledo man on State Route 579 near Northwood in Wood County.
Emergency units responded to the scene at about 2 p.m. on Friday, July 3. According to official information, Aaron Stoldt, 46, was driving east on SR-579 when his vehicle struck a car traveling ahead of him. The second vehicle was driven by a 28-year-old woman from Toledo. Following the collision, Stoldt’s vehicle left the left side of the roadway and overturned. He died at the scene from his injuries.
Authorities temporarily closed SR-579 in both directions between Bradner Road and East Plaza Boulevard, about 1.5 miles east of Northwood, while crews investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.
