The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 26. Police said the victim, believed to be a man in his 30s or 40s, was traveling on a motorized wheelchair when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver left the scene, although investigators recovered vehicle parts that broke off during the collision and are now being used as evidence.
A firefighter who was driving to work came across the crash, called for help, and performed CPR until emergency units arrived. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
