What Happens During a Fatal Highway Crash Investigation?
Fatal highway crashes are reviewed by examining multiple details from the scene. Investigators may look at vehicle positions, roadway conditions, damage patterns, and other physical evidence to better understand how the crash occurred.
Large trucks and passenger vehicles can create complex crash scenes due to differences in size, weight, and speed. Road closures may be needed while crews document the area and remove vehicles safely. These reviews help provide a clearer picture of the events leading up to a fatal collision.
