Petersburgh, NY (June 16, 2026) – Five people were injured on Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle wreck on New York State Route 2 near River Road in Petersburgh.
According to the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the roadway at about 2:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 15. Investigators said a Jeep traveling westbound on Route 2 struck an eastbound Chevrolet. The Chevrolet then collided with a Ford that was traveling behind it.
Five people were hurt in the chain-reaction crash. Those involved were taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and Albany Medical Center for treatment. Two of the injured people were flown to medical facilities by helicopter due to the seriousness of their injuries.
The collision led to the closure of all lanes on Route 2 near River Road for several hours. Traffic resumed shortly before 8 p.m. Names and ages of the people involved were not released in the initial report.
