What Can Make Two-Vehicle Crashes More Serious?
Two-vehicle crashes can produce different levels of injury depending on vehicle speed, direction of travel, and where the vehicles make contact. Even a moderate-speed crash can cause significant harm when one vehicle strikes another at an angle.
Seat belts help keep occupants properly positioned during a collision and can reduce the risk of serious injury. Airbags provide additional protection in a crash.
Drivers can reduce risk by maintaining a safe speed, watching traffic carefully, and leaving enough distance to stop. Extra caution near intersections and business districts can also help prevent sudden conflicts between vehicles.
