Blue Island, IL (June 24, 2026) – Five people, including two firefighters, were injured after a large house fire early Tuesday morning in Blue Island.

According to fire officials, crews responded to a residence near Fountain Hills Golf Club after reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames engulfing the home and spent several hours battling the blaze.

Video from the scene showed extensive damage to the residence, including the collapse of a significant portion of the roof. Debris was scattered throughout the property as firefighters worked to bring the fire under control.

Authorities said two firefighters and three civilians suffered injuries in the incident. The extent of those injuries has not yet been released. Officials initially believed the home may have been vacant, but responding crews discovered vehicles in the driveway and learned that people were inside the residence when the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and detectives have not yet disclosed how many people lived in the home or whether any residents were displaced by the blaze.

We hope all those injured make a full and speedy recovery.

Why House Fire Investigations May Take Time?

Residential fire investigations continue long after the flames have been extinguished. Authorities must carefully examine the scene to determine where the fire originated and how it spread throughout the structure.

When significant damage occurs, including roof collapses or structural instability, investigators may need additional time to safely access portions of the property. Fire patterns, electrical systems, appliances, and other potential ignition sources are commonly reviewed as part of the process.

The officials also work to document damage, interview witnesses, and collect physical evidence. These efforts help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and may assist authorities in identifying factors that contributed to the fire and resulting injuries.
