Ogden, UT (July 7, 2026) – Five kids were hurt on Saturday night after a driver suspected of felony DUI struck a parked vehicle and pinned several of them against it in a parking lot at 4400 Airport Rd in Ogden. The crash was reported at approximately 10:20 p.m.

The driver of a gray GMC truck struck a white Dodge Charger that was parked in a stall, pinning several young people who were standing nearby. The truck then backed up and attempted to leave. Witnesses intervened, banging on the windows and eventually breaking several to stop the driver from fleeing before police arrived.

Five kids were taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from scrapes to broken bones. An 11-year-old girl with a broken pelvis was airlifted from McKay-Dee Hospital to Primary Children’s Hospital. The suspect was taken to the hospital for observation and later arrested on a felony DUI charge involving injury and prior offenses.

The crash occurred near a large crowd gathered for Riverdale City’s Fourth of July fireworks show. No names have been released. The accident remains under investigation.

We hope all five kids make full recoveries, especially the young girl who was most seriously hurt.

What Legal Consequences Can Follow a Felony DUI Crash Involving Injured Children?

When a driver who is impaired causes a crash that injures multiple people, the criminal charges that follow are significantly more serious than a standard DUI. In Utah, a felony DUI involving injury can result in years of prison time, particularly when the driver has prior offenses on their record. The presence of multiple victims, including young people, and an attempt to flee the scene can all factor into both the charges filed and the sentencing that follows a conviction.

Attempting to leave the scene of a crash where people have been hurt adds additional criminal exposure. Utah law treats leaving the scene of an injury accident as a separate offense, and the presence of witnesses who physically stopped the driver from fleeing becomes part of the evidentiary record. Prosecutors in cases like this typically pursue every available charge to reflect the full scope of harm caused.

Injuries from a vehicle pinning a person against another car can be severe, even when the vehicle is moving slowly. The force generated when a truck pushes a stationary vehicle into a person standing beside it concentrates on a small area of the body, which is why fractures, including serious ones like a broken pelvis, can result from what might appear to be a low-speed collision. Pelvic fractures in particular can involve damage to surrounding blood vessels and organs, making rapid trauma care critical for the most seriously hurt.
