Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a vehicle roll over?
Rollovers typically happen when a vehicle's tires lose grip during a sharp turn or sudden swerve, causing it to tip onto its side or roof. Higher-riding vehicles with a narrower wheelbase, like SUVs and trucks, are more prone to this than lower, wider cars.
Why do rollover crashes tend to cause serious injuries?
Occupants can be thrown around the cabin or, in some cases, partially or fully ejected if they are not properly restrained. The vehicle's roof and frame can also be crushed in the rollover itself, reducing space inside the cabin.
Does wearing a seat belt matter in a rollover?
Yes. Seat belts keep occupants in their seats during the rollover motion, which lowers the chance of being thrown against the roof, windows, or out of the vehicle entirely.
What to Do After a Rollover Crash in Florence-Graham, CA
If you're involved in a rollover crash, stay as still as possible and check yourself for injuries before attempting to move, especially if you're hanging from a seat belt or pinned against the roof. Call 911 right away, even if injuries seem minor, since some symptoms of head, neck, or internal injuries can take hours to appear. Once you're safe, get a full medical evaluation, request a copy of the official crash report once it's available, and photograph the scene and vehicle damage if you're able to do so safely. Keep records of any medical visits and follow-up care related to the crash.
