Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do right after a car accident?
Move to a safe spot if possible, call 911, and exchange information with any other driver who stays at the scene. Take photos of vehicle positions and damage, and get contact information from witnesses in case the other driver cannot be located later.
Where do most traffic accidents happen?
Crashes cluster on freeways during peak commute hours and at points where traffic merges or slows suddenly, conditions that raise the chance of rear-end collisions like this one.
What injuries are common in rear-end crashes?
Whiplash and other neck and back injuries are frequent, along with head injuries if a driver is jolted against the headrest or window. Some injuries don't show symptoms until hours or days later, so a medical check is worthwhile even if someone feels fine at the scene.
What to Do After a Hit-and-Run Crash in South Los Angeles, CA
If another driver strikes your vehicle and leaves, try to note any details you can, color, make, direction of travel, partial plate, before the memory fades. Call the California Highway Patrol or local police right away to file a report, since that report is often needed for insurance claims involving an unidentified driver. Get checked by a medical provider even if injuries seem minor, and keep records of any treatment. If your car isn't drivable, arrange a tow before attempting to move it yourself, and stay clear of live traffic lanes while waiting for help to arrive.
