Frequently Asked Questions
What usually causes pedestrian accidents?
Pedestrian crashes commonly result from drivers failing to yield, limited visibility, distraction, or a pedestrian entering a roadway or travel lane unexpectedly, especially in areas not meant for foot traffic, like a freeway.
Does vehicle speed affect how severe a pedestrian injury is?
Yes. Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force involved in a collision, which generally raises the chance of serious injury or death for anyone struck.
Are pedestrian accidents more common at night?
Crashes involving pedestrians happen more frequently after dark, when visibility is reduced and drivers have less time to spot a person on or near the roadway.
