Homewood, IL (August 6, 2026) – Four residents were hurt after an apartment fire on Tuesday afternoon, August 4, in the 18000 block of Cherry Creek Dr in suburban Homewood.
The fire broke out inside a fifth-floor residence of an apartment building. Multiple emergency units arrived and contained the flames before they spread to other units in the building.
Four residents were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor smoke inhalation. Most residents were expected to return to their homes after damage assessments and cleanup, though fifth-floor residents faced a longer wait. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
