Energy, IL (August 6, 2026) – One person died after a home explosion on Tuesday evening, August 4, near the intersection of W College St and McGinnis St in the Village of Energy.
The explosion occurred around 7 p.m. and was heard by residents across nearby communities. Emergency units found that a home had been destroyed, while several surrounding homes and buildings also sustained damage.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said a preliminary review found a large blast radius and one fatality. The identity of the deceased has not been released while family notification is pending. Investigators are working to determine what caused the explosion, and the review remains ongoing.
