Racine County, WI (July 25, 2026) – Four people were hurt after two separate crashes involving tractor-trailers on Interstate 94 in Racine County on Thursday morning, July 23. The crashes caused vehicle fires, a diesel fuel spill, and major traffic delays for several hours.
The first incident happened around 4:36 a.m. on northbound Interstate 94 just north of Golf Road near mile marker 329. Officials said a semi struck the rear of a Sprinter van that was traveling slowly near the shoulder or right lane. The collision caused the tractor-trailer to cross the highway, strike the median barrier, overturn, and extend into the southbound lanes.
The overturned semi ignited and leaked diesel fuel across the roadway. An SUV was also involved in the crash. Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries, and another person declined emergency transport. Later, around 7:30 a.m., another tractor-trailer crash was reported on northbound Interstate 94 near Highway KR. A semi rear-ended another tractor-trailer, and a box truck was also involved. One truck caught fire, and one person was transported with minor injuries.
Crews cleared both scenes after extinguishing the fires, managing the fuel spill, removing damaged vehicles, and restoring traffic flow. The interstate reopened shortly after 10 a.m.
