Franconia, NH (January 20, 2026) – A Massachusetts man suffered serious injuries Saturday afternoon after a snowmobile accident on the Corridor 11 trail in Franconia Notch, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
The crash occurred around 12:25 p.m., when 54-year-old Shawn McNinch of Beverly, MA, lost control while navigating an icy corner on the trail. His snowmobile veered off-course and collided with several trees, resulting in the complete destruction of the machine.
McNinch was riding with another individual at the time of the incident. That person assisted in helping him out of the wooded area, and he was later transported by private vehicle to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth. Officials confirmed that McNinch sustained serious injuries but is expected to recover.
Conservation officers noted that trail conditions were icy and speed was likely a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Our thoughts are with Mr. McNinch and his family, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.
