How Multi-Vehicle Crashes Can Increase Injury Risk
Crashes involving multiple vehicles often result in more injuries due to the chain-reaction effect. When one vehicle stops suddenly or is struck, others behind it may not have enough time or distance to avoid a collision. This can cause multiple impacts within seconds.
With more vehicles involved, there is also a greater chance that passengers in different cars will suffer varying levels of harm. The force of repeated impacts can increase the risk of serious injuries. Road conditions, traffic volume, and speed often influence the severity of a multi-vehicle accident.
Emergency response in these situations usually includes rapid triage to determine which patients need immediate care. Air transport may be used when injuries require specialized treatment at trauma centers.
