Gallatin, MO (March 11, 2026) – A 79-year-old woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday, March 10, at the intersection of East Grand Street and Clay Street in Gallatin, located in Daviess County.
Emergency units responded around 6:20 p.m. after a collision involving a 2015 Ford F-150 and a 2010 Toyota Corolla. Authorities said the Ford was traveling northbound on Clay Street when it entered the intersection and failed to yield to the Corolla, which was traveling westbound on East Grand Street. The front passenger side of the Ford was struck by the front of the Toyota. Both vehicles came to rest facing north on Clay Street following the impact.
The 79-year-old driver of the Toyota, a Gallatin resident, suffered minor injuries in the crash. She was taken by ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center for treatment. The 59-year-old driver of the Ford, also from Gallatin, was not reported injured.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman as she receives medical care.
Why Failure-to-Yield Crashes Often Occur at Intersections
Intersections are one of the most common locations for vehicle crashes. Drivers approaching from different directions must judge speed, distance, and right-of-way rules in a short amount of time.
Failure-to-yield accidents often occur when a driver enters an intersection before it is safe to do so. Even at moderate speeds, a vehicle’s side can be vulnerable to damage in a collision.
These crashes frequently occur when drivers misjudge the speed of oncoming traffic or fail to notice an approaching vehicle. Clear signage and careful attention to traffic flow can help reduce the risk of intersection accidents.
