Center Moriches, NY (June 27, 2026) – A 12-year-old girl was seriously hurt after a Jeep struck her while she was crossing Main Street near Clinton Street in Center Moriches on Thursday afternoon, June 25. The accident occurred at about 3:05 p.m.
Police said a 25-year-old Mastic woman was driving a 2015 Jeep Wrangler westbound on Main Street when the vehicle hit the girl as she crossed the roadway near Clinton Street. The child, who is from Center Moriches, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Jeep driver was not hurt. The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection, and no additional details about the collision were immediately released.
The circumstances surrounding the wreck continue to be examined.
