Colleton County, SC (July 14, 2026) – A go-kart driver was seriously hurt in an accident late on Saturday night on Jefferies Hwy near Cottonwood Ln in Colleton County. The collision occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m.
According to available information, the go-cart was traveling north in the roadway when it was struck by a passenger vehicle. The black go-cart reportedly was not equipped with lights or reflective markings.
The go-cart driver was not wearing a helmet and sustained serious injuries, including severe bleeding in a leg. Emergency units provided aid at the scene before the person was taken to a trauma center for further treatment. The driver of the car was not hurt. Additional information about the people involved had not been released at the time of publication. The cause of the wreck remains under investigation as more details become available.
