Greenville, OH (January 30, 2026) – A man was airlifted to the hospital on Thursday morning following a collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck at a rural intersection in Darke County.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:07 a.m. on January 29 at the intersection of State Route 47 and Conover Rd. According to initial findings from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, 47-year-old Christopher Magoto of Versailles was traveling westbound in a 2010 Ford F-150 when he attempted a left-hand turn onto Conover Rd. During the maneuver, Magoto entered the path of an eastbound 2021 Peterbilt semi-truck, resulting in a violent impact.
The driver of the semi, identified as 29-year-old Anthony Cornett of Saint Marys, was unable to avoid the collision. The impact sent the Peterbilt off the right side of the road, where it came to a stop in an adjacent field. Magoto’s vehicle was also forced off the roadway, coming to rest in a roadside ditch.
Air medical crews from CareFlight were called to the scene due to the severity of the incident. Magoto was flown to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not reported any injuries to Cornett.
Investigators remained at the scene for several hours to document the incident and assess the contributing factors. The intersection was partially restricted during the response and cleanup efforts.
We extend our best wishes to Christopher Magoto for a full recovery and acknowledge the swift work of emergency responders in managing the scene.
