Greenville, SC (January 11, 2026) – A tragic pedestrian crash claimed the life of a Union County man Saturday evening along a busy stretch of I-85 South in Greenville.
The incident occurred just before 7:00 p.m., when emergency dispatchers received several calls reporting a person struck by a vehicle on I-85 South near Exit 48 at Laurens Rd. According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, 69-year-old Donnie Bisco Todd was in the roadway when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.
Greenville Police and emergency medical teams arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, Todd was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 7:11 p.m. The driver involved remained at the location and cooperated with authorities.
Details about why Todd was in the roadway have not yet been released. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an external examination for January 12 as part of the ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
The southbound lanes of I-85 experienced delays as officials secured the scene and conducted their initial review. The crash remains under active investigation by the Greenville Police Department and the coroner’s office.
