Hanford, CA (January 28, 2026) – A serious crash involving two vehicles, one of which caught fire, occurred Tuesday night on westbound State Route 198 just east of 2nd Ave in Hanford, leaving at least one person injured and requiring emergency response from multiple agencies.
The collision was reported around 8:33 p.m. and involved a black sedan and a black pickup truck. According to California Highway Patrol logs, one of the vehicles was on fire when first responders arrived, and both sustained major front-end damage.
Fire crews from Kings County Fire Department quickly extinguished the flames while paramedics assessed the injured parties. At least one individual was hurt in the crash, though the full extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed. Emergency medical services transported the injured to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
Law enforcement temporarily closed portions of the highway while fire crews managed the blaze and tow services removed the damaged vehicles. CHP has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, including reviewing whether speed, visibility, or roadway conditions were factors.
