What Makes Wrong-Way Crashes So Dangerous?
Wrong-way crashes are among the most dangerous types of roadway collisions because they result in head-on impacts between vehicles traveling at high speeds.
Roadways such as Highway 6 North carry significant traffic volumes, particularly during nighttime hours. When a vehicle enters the roadway traveling in the wrong direction, other drivers may have little time to react and avoid a collision.
In many cases, investigators analyze roadway signage, driver behavior, and possible contributing factors such as impaired driving or confusion at highway entrances.
