Harris County, TX (May 13, 2026) – A 14-year-old girl was injured on Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle near the Atascocita area of Harris County.

Emergency units responded shortly after 9 a.m. to the intersection of Madera Run Pkwy and Lupine Meadow Lane following reports of a crash involving a bicyclist and a vehicle. Authorities said the teenage rider was injured in the collision and received medical attention at the scene.

The extent of the girl’s injuries has not yet been released. Additional details regarding the vehicle involved and the circumstances leading up to the incident have also not been confirmed.

Westbound traffic in the area was impacted while crews worked at the scene and investigators reviewed the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, and more information may be released as it becomes available. We are thinking of the injured teen as she receives medical care.

Why Bicycle Crashes at Neighborhood Intersections Can Cause Serious Injuries

Bicyclists are especially vulnerable during collisions because they have little physical protection compared to drivers inside vehicles. Even low-speed impacts in residential or suburban areas can result in serious injuries to riders.

Neighborhood intersections often involve turning vehicles, parked cars, and limited visibility that may reduce reaction time for both drivers and bicyclists. Morning traffic activity can also increase the risk of crashes near residential communities.

After bicycle accidents, investigators commonly review roadway positioning, visibility conditions, and vehicle movement to determine how the collision occurred. Damage to the bicycle and evidence from the nearby roadway may also help establish the sequence of events.
