Why Rural Motorcycle Crashes Can Present Additional Risks
Motorcycle crashes on rural roads can become especially dangerous due to higher travel speeds and limited lighting or visibility in some areas. Curves, narrow shoulders, and changing road surfaces may also increase the risk of losing control.
Intersections involving county roads and farm-to-market routes can create additional hazards because drivers may approach from multiple directions with limited reaction time. Motorcyclists are also more likely to sustain injuries in impacts because they lack the protection found in passenger vehicles.
After these crashes, investigators often examine skid marks, vehicle positions, and roadway conditions to better understand how the collision occurred. Weather, visibility, and traffic patterns may also be reviewed during the investigation.
