What Conditions Can Increase the Risk of Pedestrian Crashes at Night?
Evening accidents near U.S. Highway 49 and West Pine Street may reduce visibility for both drivers and pedestrians. Lower light levels can make it harder to see people crossing or walking along the roadway.
Busy roadways that carry steady traffic can add to the risk, especially when vehicles move at higher speeds. In these environments, reaction time becomes limited if a pedestrian enters the roadway unexpectedly.
Lighting, crosswalk placement, and driver attention all influence nighttime safety. Staying alert and adjusting speed in low-visibility conditions can help reduce the chances of serious pedestrian crashes.
