Henry County, MO (May 18, 2026) – Two people lost their lives, and another person suffered serious injuries following a multi-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Missouri Route 7 at Northwest 311th Road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that the collision occurred around 2:55 p.m. Investigators said a 2016 Ford Taurus driven by a 77-year-old woman from Lincoln crossed into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2023 Nissan Maxima driven by a 54-year-old woman from Clinton. Following the initial impact, the Nissan was struck by a 2015 Ford F-150 driven by a 59-year-old man from Stilwell, Kansas, causing the pickup truck to overturn.
The driver of the Ford Taurus and an 81-year-old male occupant were both fatally injured in the crash. The driver of the Nissan suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by Life Flight Eagle to Truman Medical Center for treatment.
Emergency crews from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Clinton Police Department, and Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to assist at the scene.
Our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives, and we wish a full recovery to the injured victim.
Highway Collision Safety and Awareness
Head-on collisions are among the most severe types of roadway crashes and can result in catastrophic injuries even when safety restraints are used. Drivers are encouraged to remain attentive, avoid distractions, and maintain proper lane positioning, especially on rural highways and two-lane roads.
Multi-vehicle crashes can also create dangerous secondary impacts when nearby drivers have limited time to react. Maintaining safe speeds and leaving enough distance between vehicles can help reduce the risk of chain-reaction collisions.
Emergency responders remind motorists to slow down and use caution around crash scenes to protect both victims and crews working along the roadway. Careful and defensive driving remains essential in helping prevent serious traffic fatalities across Missouri highways.
