How Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents Often Occur on City Streets
Pedestrian crashes on city streets frequently occur at intersections or along roadways with regular vehicle traffic. These areas may involve multiple turning movements, changing traffic signals, and limited nighttime visibility.
When a driver leaves the scene after a collision, investigators often rely on witness statements, nearby surveillance footage, and roadway evidence to help determine what happened. Vehicle debris, tire marks, and the victim’s location can sometimes provide clues about the vehicle’s direction and speed.
Lighting conditions and pedestrian visibility may also be considered. Incidents that occur at night can present additional challenges, as drivers and pedestrians may have less time to react, especially on roads with steady traffic flow or limited street lighting.
