Why Intersections Can Be Risky for Motorcyclists
Intersections are common locations for crashes involving motorcycles due to the number of movements happening at once. Vehicles may be turning, stopping, or accelerating, which can create unpredictable situations for riders.
Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than cars, making them easier to overlook, especially during nighttime or low-light conditions. Drivers may misjudge a motorcycle’s speed or fail to notice it entirely when turning or crossing traffic.
Road design, traffic signals, and surrounding activity can also affect safety at intersections. Clear visibility, proper signaling, and awareness from all road users can help reduce the likelihood of collisions in these areas.
