Understanding the Dangers of Impaired Driving
Driving under the influence of alcohol significantly increases the risk of crashes, especially for motorcyclists, who lack the protective structure of a car. Even moderate blood-alcohol levels can impair reaction time, judgment, and coordination.
Motorcycle collisions caused by impaired drivers often result in severe or fatal injuries due to the limited protection for riders. Helmets and protective gear can help reduce the risk of injury, but cannot prevent the effects of a high-speed impact.
Public awareness campaigns and enforcement of DUI laws aim to reduce these tragedies. Families and communities stress the importance of choosing safe alternatives, such as ride-sharing, designated drivers, or public transportation, to prevent loss of life on the roads.
