Mountain View, CA (August 12, 2026) – A hit-and-run crash involving injuries was reported on northbound U.S. 101 near the Rengstorff Avenue offramp in Mountain View on Monday, August 10.

Two vehicles were reported in the No. 2 lane, while another vehicle was in the No. 4 lane. One of the involved parties was reportedly trying to get out of the roadway. Another vehicle was transferred to fire personnel.

What Should Drivers Do After a Hit-and-Run Crash?

A hit-and-run collision can make an already dangerous roadway situation more difficult because an involved driver leaves before authorities can fully document the circumstances. Investigators may rely on vehicle descriptions, witness accounts, roadway evidence, and available video to identify the fleeing vehicle.

Drivers who witness a crash or have relevant dashcam footage may be able to provide useful information to investigators. Anyone involved in a collision should move to a safe location when possible and follow instructions from emergency personnel.

Drivers approaching a crash scene should slow down and remain alert for disabled vehicles, emergency responders, and sudden changes in traffic flow.
