Dillon Co., SC (August 29, 2026) – A moped rider was injured on Thursday evening, August 27, in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 9 near Jake Drive in Dillon County. The collision happened at approximately 7:45 p.m.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, an unknown southbound vehicle struck the moped as the rider was turning left onto Jake Drive. The driver left the scene after the collision. Troopers said the vehicle may be a champagne-colored 2009–2014 GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe, or Cadillac Escalade with a missing passenger-side mirror.
The available report did not specify the severity of the moped rider’s injuries or whether the rider was taken to a hospital. Authorities are continuing to seek information about the vehicle involved.
