Phoenix, AZ (September 10, 2026) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on September 7 near 5th Ave and Indian School Rd around 6:30 p.m. The man, identified as 57-year-old DeWayne Lewis, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Lewis later died from his injuries. Authorities believe a white SUV struck him before leaving the site. Indian School Rd was closed between 3rd and 7th Avenues for several hours while officers gathered information. The police asked anyone with information about the collision to contact them or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. The investigation into the hit-and-run remains underway as police work to identify the driver.
