Hobarton, IA (April 28, 2026) – A woman died and two other people were injured after a semi and a car collided west of Algona on Monday, April 27. The crash happened close to 10:30 a.m. at 90th Avenue and 210th Street.
According to officials, the semi was traveling south on 90th Avenue when it failed to stop at the intersection with 210th Street. The semi then hit a car traveling eastbound.
The driver of the car, 47-year-old Carolee Wise of Emmetsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car and the semi driver, who was from Nebraska, were injured and taken to Kossuth Regional Health Center.
A section of 210th Street between 80th Avenue and 100th Avenue remained closed until about 4 p.m.
