Frequently Asked Questions
Which vehicles are most prone to rollovers?
Taller, narrower vehicles with a higher center of gravity, such as SUVs, pickup trucks and vans, are more likely to roll over than low-profile passenger cars, especially during sharp turns or sudden maneuvers.
Does wearing a seat belt matter in a rollover?
Yes. Seat belts keep occupants positioned inside the vehicle during a rollover, which lowers the chance of being thrown against the roof or ejected, one of the leading causes of serious injury in these crashes.
What is a "tripped" rollover?
It happens when a vehicle's tires catch on something, such as a curb, soft shoulder or guardrail, causing it to tip or flip. Most single-vehicle rollovers are tripped.
What to Do After a Rollover Crash in Holden, MA
If you're involved in a rollover, stay as still as possible until emergency crews confirm it's safe to move, especially if the vehicle is unstable or you're unsure of your injuries. Call 911 right away and let dispatchers know if anyone is trapped, so the right equipment can be sent. Even if you feel fine, get checked by a medical provider afterward. Rollovers can cause head, neck and spinal injuries that aren't obvious right away. Once you're safe, remember to request a copy of the official crash report from local police for your records.
