Houston, TX (March 21, 2026) – Two officers were injured in a rollover crash on Friday afternoon, March 21, at the intersection of Alabama Street and Almeda Road in Houston. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. and involved multiple vehicles.
Emergency units arrived to find a patrol vehicle that had been struck from the side in the intersection. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over and land on top of another vehicle nearby.
Both officers inside the patrol unit were taken to a hospital in stable condition. The drivers of the other vehicles involved were not reported injured. Officials said the patrol vehicle was responding to a priority call with lights and sirens active at the time.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We are thinking of the injured officers as they recover.
Intersection Crashes Can Become More Severe With Side Impacts
Crashes at intersections often involve vehicles crossing paths at different angles. When a vehicle is hit from the side, also known as a T-bone collision, the force can push it off balance and lead to a rollover.
Emergency vehicles responding to calls may travel through intersections with lights and sirens. This can create complex situations as other drivers react quickly to clear the way.
The combination of speed, timing, and direction of impact can increase the chance of a vehicle overturning. Intersections with steady traffic flow may see higher risks when multiple vehicles enter at once.
